About "Social Differentiation"

It is everywhere true that those at the bottom of the social hierarchy are the majority. …Why then does the majority remain deprived? The minority at the top may have a near monopoly of force, but force alone is not the answer. A system of social differentiation must be found in which all believe, not just some.

  1. Such an apropos subject for today! I don't know Van Doren, but I do know that something needs to be changed–but not just anything.

It seems to me that the only solution is to improve morality among the minority. But that seems impossible. Eradicate them? Possible, but too violent, too extreme and dangerous (remember the French Revolution?).

What is it the minority know that we do not? Are they keeping knowledge from us?
