Africa (3.Night)

Posted on: May 31, 2011

3. Night
I was told
the nightmarish tales
had never come to Africa –
the evening sky is always clear
the silver Moon is forever bright
all lives rest in
the tranquil dreams of summer night –
Oh Africa!
the cradle of life
the wonderland of children
and the bewitched
Enchantress of myth – who
never desired to wake up from
the moonlit innocence

Poem for Beauty indeed – this is a excellent – it could be a spoken word poem, as it is very lyrical and flows so smoothly.

thanks Poets United!

This is my vision of Africa too. I so love this poem! Beautiful.

Outstanding. WHat a way with words. This is great read aloud and could be a part of a film. Super skill.

This is indeed a wonderful vision of Africa.
Great imagery!

very beautiful way you've engaged human consciousness with a piece of geography in poetic form! I love it! Cindy

@Henry Clemmons, Andy, Cindy eksuzian,
Thanks for all your kind words!

Lovely picture you've painted today…

Great topic, great imagery.

I'm not sure Eden was ever Paradise, though.

Very enchanting. It reminds me of the stories I've heard that come from Africa.

Wow……..that has me wowing. It's true that Africa, the great continent that it is, is the last remaining mystery in the world. One which is full of jewels.

I agree this poem has a sensational lyrical quality and it makes me want to visit Africa!

@myjoysandhealing, underthetoadstool, mindlovemisery, thanks for all your wonderful comments!

Idyllic…I wondered at the start if it was going to take a dark twist somewhere…thank you–thought provoking.

Lovely poem! I really enjoyed this one! How I wish my country never woke up from “the moonlit innocence of eden”! Brilliant!
